I have a method. It’s stupid, but it works. Take your phone, open the weather app (yes, the weather app), and type in “Detroit, MI.” Then, look at the local time. Now, find a Red Wings game on your TV guide. If the time matches, you win. If it doesn’t, you’re probably looking at a rerun of Seinfeld, which is also good, but not the same.
Detroit Red Wings game today vs. Washington Capitals: Time, TV channel
Or, you can just Google it like a normal human. Type: “Detroit Red Wings game time today.” Google will show you a beautiful, clean answer. But where’s the fun in that? Where’s the struggle? The hunt is part of the fan experience, like finding a good hot dog at a stadium.
The One Rule You Must Follow
Here it is. The golden rule of Wings time: Ignore what your uncle says. Your uncle, bless his heart, will swear the game is at 6:00 PM because his VCR clock is stuck on Daylight Saving Time from 1998. He is wrong. Politely nod, then check the internet. You can also ask a child under twelve; they know how to use a phone.
And if you’re at a café like me, and someone asks “What time do the Wings play?” just say “7:00 PM” with total confidence. If you’re wrong, blame the NHL. Seriously, blame the league. They change start times more often than a teenager changes their TikTok profile. It’s a known problem, and we all suffer together.
