Technically, the dome itself is 365 meters in circumference. That’s about the length of three football pitches laid end to end. If you tried to run around the entire outside of the building, you’d need to stop for a snack halfway, and then probably take a nap.
Fun fact: The roof is so high that a Boeing 747 could fit inside the arena’s main space. I don’t know why you’d want to put a jumbo jet in a concert venue, but it’s a fun thing to tell your friends at a pub. They’ll look at you like you’re a genius, but really, you just read this article.
Comparing It to Your Living Room (Don’t)
Let’s put it in perspective for your average human. Your living room is probably about 20 square meters. The O2 Arena’s interior is about 20,000 square meters. So you could fit a thousand of your living rooms in there.
That means if you shuffled all your furniture—the sofa, the TV, that weird ottoman your aunt gave you—you could recreate your entire house a thousand times over. The only difference? None of your rooms would have good soundproofing, and the neighbours would all be screaming.
