TSA was created in November 2001, right after 9/11. Before that, private security companies handled airport screening. Yeah, that didn’t work great. Now we have 50,000+ federal employees making sure you don’t bring a really sharp comb on board. Progress, I guess?

TSA agents have confiscated snakes, grenade-shaped lighters, and even a prosthetic leg filled with weed. I’m not making that up. Their Instagram account is basically a museum of “what were you thinking?” You should follow it. It’s hilarious.
