Don’t let the technicalities ruin the magic. Plummer’s performance is iconic, voice-blend and all. He brought depth to a character that could have been a cardboard cutout. And honestly, who cares if Bill Lee helped? It’s the result that matters.
Next time you watch "Edelweiss," listen with new ears. You’ll hear Plummer’s own strain and emotion. You’ll also hear a little bit of Prince Charming. And that’s okay. It’s a beautiful, messy blend of art and compromise.
So, did Christopher Plummer sing in the movie? Yes. Did he like it? No. Does it matter? Not one bit. The man gave us a timeless performance, and that’s what we remember when the hills come alive.
